Schubert Motorsport to line up in the VLN this weekend
The ADAC GT Masters is still in its summer break, but Schubert Motorsport is back in action this Saturday. The team from Oschersleben (DE) will field a BMW Z4 GT3 at the fifth race of the season in the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife (DE). Alternating at the wheel of the black number 20 car over the course of the 4-hour race will be Dominik Baumann (AT), Max Sandritter (DE) and Anders Buchardt (NO).
This outing sees Schubert Motorsport return to the Nürburgring for the first time since the disappointing 24-hour race in May. The team is using the Friday ahead of the VLN race to perform tests on the Grand Prix circuit, in order to ensure they are as well prepared as possible for the two ADAC GT Masters races at the Nürburgring in two weeks.
Timo Frings (Team Manager): “This race comes at just the right time for us, for several reasons. Firstly, it obviously makes sense to contest a race at the Nürburgring on Saturday, as we will be there anyway for the tests on Friday. We are also pleased to be able to give Max Sandritter another outing in the BMW Z4 GT3, after we were extremely unlucky in our last race in the Blancpain Endurance Series in Silverstone. Furthermore, we are delighted to welcome an old friend back to the team, in the form of Anders Buchardt, who has contested many races for us in the past. And, last but not least, we have a score to settle with the Nordschleife after this season’s 24-hour race. A good result now would at least go some way to settling that score. We are all very much looking forward to getting back out on the track.”
