BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert on the charge again in Zolder

Now that the ADAC GT Masters season is over, BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert can turn its full attention to the final two race weekends in the Blancpain Sprint Series. The challenge to be overcome this weekend is Zolder (BE). BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert made its last appearance at the iconic Belgian circuit in 2010. Back then, Edward Sandström (SE) and Patrick Söderlund (SE) were victorious in the BMW Z4 GT3.

This year, Dominik Baumann (AT) and Thomas Jäger (AT) compete in the number 76 car. Having missed out on the points last time out in Portimão (PT), the Austrian duo is looking to return to the kind of form that yielded such impressive results in its first two outings in the Blancpain Sprint Series. Baumann and Jäger finished runners-up in Zandvoort (NL) and went one better at the Slovakia Ring (SK), where they won the main race.

The qualifying race in Zolder begins at 14:15 on Saturday, while Sunday’s main race gets underway at 13:45.

Stefan Wendl (Team Manager Schubert Motorsport): “We obviously have fond memories of Zolder, thanks to our victory there in 2010. However, we raced in completely different circumstances back then. The series has developed dramatically since then, and the field is now far stronger than it used to be. Time constraints mean we have not been able to test at the circuit in the run-up to the race, so we will have to take full advantage of the practice sessions. Our goal is to finish on the podium in every race. However, we will also need a little good fortune to achieve that this time, as we will have to find the right set-up for the BMW Z4 GT3 quickly.”
